Community Meals

In the summer of 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic continued to cause widespread job loss and food insecurity, the members of AHCC wanted to find a way to connect with our neighbors and others in need, and turned our parking lot into a weekly meal distribution site. Every Sunday afternoon (no matter the weather), we serve 150 meals to our neighbors and create and foster meaningful relationships with the community.

In addition to serving our neighbors through providing food resources, we support local small businesses and nonprofits by sourcing the meals and supplies used to distribute the food from companies who are also working to make the world a more just place. Many Sundays during community meals, our church parking lot includes other activities or information from local social service agencies, such as free blood pressure screenings, free activities for children, and representatives to help people secure access to state and local services.

Our goal with the community meals is not just to simply provide food to our neighbors, but rather to create a space where we can sit and be with our neighbors and share a meal, while learning and growing together. We believe that this is one way to truly love our neighbors and create a better world together.
