Volunteer for a morning at Levo International.
The farm, located on 441 Homestead Ave is their flagship site, a previously vacant lot that has been transformed into a productive hydroponic hub. It now houses 130 hydroponic systems capable of producing 25,000 pounds of produce annually. Located near the north end of Hartford, which is the 7th worst food desert in the U.S., we offer educational programming for the community, safe community engagement events, workforce development and have also built out a still growing farm market to provide access to healthy and affordable food. Your group can expect to support our mission of empowering people to end poverty through some of the following tasks:
- harvesting
- pruning
- planting
- weeding/mulching
- cleaning/sanitizing
- sanding lumber
- staining lumber
- add’l tasks as needed!
There are tasks available for those with mobility concerns.
Wear closed toed shoes and clothes appropriate for the weather that you don’t mind getting dirty as we will be working outdoors. Please bring a water bottle – refills available onsite.
