“Thank God for this church. I don’t know how we could offer this program without the support and resources we receive here.” – Olivia Davis, founding artistic director of Spectrum in Motion Dance Theater Ensemble
You may recall reading this quote when AHCC re-launched the Annual Stewardship Campaign last summer. AHCC has had a longstanding partnership with Spectrum in Motion. Our church hosts their annual summer camp for 60 children ages 5 to 19 to learn creative movement to classical, jazz, and other musical styles; AHCC also hosts the group’s after school and weekend program when the space they previously used was no longer available.
But Spectrum is just one of many organizations that AHCC supports with administrative or program space. Consider the following:
- The City of Hartford Early Learning Center, a daycare program for pre-school children, runs Monday through Friday at AHCC.
- With offices on AHCC’s lower level, ConnectiKids provides a summer program as well as after school enrichment activities and tutoring for students in grades K-8 from West Middle and Fox Elementary Schools during the school year.
- Asylum Hill Neighborhood Association (AHNA) hosts meetings at AHCC.
In addition, dozens of other organizations receive discounted space for meetings, programs, and activities.
Providing this support to 50-60 organizations included some of the following costs last year:
Please remember this the next time you give to AHCC. Your pledges and gifts make it possible for AHCC to provide light and warmth for staff, clergy and congregants at work on many ministries. Furthermore, our operations and space also light the way for community organizations, local leadership, volunteers, and families.
Your support sustains AHCC as a house of worship, but also as a community center – where our larger church family and neighbors may come together to engage and work to make a better life and a better world.
