At AHCC, we take seriously Jesus’ words to “love your neighbor as yourself.” One of the joys of being in a community of faith is that we can put our faith into action in ways that we can’t accomplish individually, and together, we can do great things. In 2018, AHCC donated $208,224 to area organizations and neighborhood efforts through our Outreach grants. That funding is provided 100% by you, the members of AHCC.
Our website, ahcc.org, has information on the grant application and a letter that can describes the process to new applicants. Your donations provide a variety of organizations with grant funding – from helping ConnectiKids tutor local 3rd graders, to funding Loaves and Fishes’ food kitchen, to helping Hartford Interval House provide a safe haven from domestic abuse.
Non-profits and community groups can request a one-year grant through the grant application process. The Outreach Committee balances the number of grants we give with providing funding levels that will have the greatest impact on the success of the programs.
But donating grant dollars is not all we do. Area agencies are always looking for volunteers to help carry out their mission and goals. To find out more, pick up a copy of the Faith in Action brochure (pictured at right) on the Outreach Table in Drew Hall, or contact Rev. Mia Douglas.
If you are one of our pledging members, you’re part of this wonderful experience for these worthwhile organizations. Thank you for your contributions.
If you haven’t pledged but would like to, contact Deb Holden at the church office at 860.216.9833, or pledge online, including how to set up automatic payments.
