SUSO members, church members, and Mothers United Against Violence  (MUAV) members attended “The Inaugural Community and School Violence Prevention symposium” at the UConn Law School, sponsored by UConn’s School of Social Work. The keynote speaker addressed the importance of recognizing PTSD in children exposed to violence which adversely affects academic achievement.

AHCC member Tiana Hercules of Project Longevity, Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin, and Rev. Matthew Laney presented enlightening stories, statistics, and information that broadened our knowledge and understanding of violence with ideas that can help us “rewrite the story.”
