Most of you know that I accepted the interim associate minister call at AHCC last January only planning to stay until the end of 2017. I thought I might even finish sooner if a permanent candidate was found before that. My time here was to be my last ministry call before retirement. Obviously, circumstances changed with Matt Laney’s departure and I agreed to stay a bit longer. So this note is to let you know that I will be bringing my ministry here to a close on July 31, 2018, when I will retire.
Serving this congregation has been, and continues to be, a privilege. It is an extraordinary way to bring my time in parish ministry to a close, and I feel blessed to be part of this amazing church family. Working with Erica is a joy to me, the AHCC staff is amazing, and being part of the leadership team with Holly, Bart, Anna and all the Deacons is truly a marvelous experience.
I am very glad to be part of the impressive work this church is doing during the transition. And, it is important to emphasize, that even though I still have 6 months to go, when I do leave, it will be with deep gratitude and affection for this congregation and the chance given me to serve here.
This notice may seem early, but it is important for the health of the church that the process for filling the transitional associate minister position is initiated now to assure the smooth continuity of pastoral ministry. The Executive Committee has charged the Personnel Committee with the process of interviewing and selecting a candidate by early spring if possible. The Board of Deacons has endorsed this process and it has already begun in earnest.
As we walk through these next 6 months together, I am sure that God will continue to bless this wonderful church and lead it into a bright future of service.
