This past April, and for the fourth year since its inception, AHCC served as host to the Hartford Creative Composition Contest.

Loving Acceptance

During a church Forum on Sunday, February 24, members of the Growth Team described what they have working on to take the themes of Inquiry, Acceptance, and Impact forward to grow AHCC. Wanda Williams-McCormack spoke about the theme of Acceptance. An excerpt of her comments is below.

During the season of Lent, children in grades K-5 participated in a special collection as part of their Practicing Lent unit. Our Spirit Hill children raised $500 for special outreach projects. Grades K-3 collected funds to create care bags to be distributed to our special consideration church members. Children in grades 4-5 collected funds to pack schools kits for Church World Service.

As we think about the next chapter of ministry at AHCC, one of the things we are doing intentionally is inviting people in, paying attention to new voices, and making space for the way the world and people have changed. We want to be welcoming of a diversity of people, as we begin to chart our course forward.
