Musical Ensembles

Asylum Hill Congregational Church offers many opportunities for members and friends to express their faith through the creation of music. In addition to the Sanctaury Choir, there are many small ensembles - some that meet on a regular basis and some that meet occaisionally for a specific holiday or event.

The Sanctuary Choir is comprised of singer/musicians who, through their talent and their spirits, provide musical leadership for Sunday worship services and community events. With 8 professional section leaders and some of the community’s best soloists and instrumentalists, the AHCC Music Ministry is capable of extraordinary musical diversity and quality.

The Handbell Choir is an ensemble of 11 adult ringers who ring the church's five-octave set of Malmark handbells (that's nearly 60 bells!). Directed by Mike Comeau, the ensemble meets weekly and participates in worship on special occasions throughout the year. The standing ensemble has a limited capacity, but there are other opportunities to ring if you are interested!

To afford more singers a chance to participate in worship leadership, the music ministry offers a series of "drop-in" choirs with limited rehearsal commitment. In most cases, these ensembles rehearse after worship on three Sundays in advance of a special worship service.

Many of our members have musical talent, and we encourage small ensembles to form based on common interests and repertoire.

AHCC Strings is a chamber orchestra of string players of all levels that meets occasionally throughout the year and performs in worship and concert events.
