Reading of “Letter from a Birmingham Jail”
The Letter from a Birmingham Jail is an open letter written on April 16, 1963, by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in response to a public statement of concern and caution issued by eight white religious leaders of the South. Dr. King wrote the letter when he was imprisoned as a participant in nonviolent demonstrations against segregation.
