Legacy of Light
All are welcome to attend and hear from women who are children of Holocaust survivors as they share their family stories of persecution and perseverance.
These women are our neighbors in the Greater Hartford area and their stories are offered in the context of both understanding history and current events.
Our panel will address their family’s experiences before, during and after the war and share personal stories of growing up as children of survivors.
Both of Jeanette Brod’s Jewish parents (one German, one Polish) survived outside the concentration camps and without their families, whose downward spirals they were powerless to stop.
Evelyn Stark Fishman’s parents lived through the Holocaust in Hungary and Romania. After the war they were trapped under the communist regime, finally making their way to Israel and the US.
Carrie Berman’s Norwegian mother and family escaped Norway, barely missing deportation to Auschwitz. She will share how the family rebuilt their lives in Norway after the Holocaust.
