GHIAA Issue House Meeting
Co-hosted by and taking place at Beth El Temple, West Hartford.
This “Issue-Spotting” House Meeting is one of many that will be scheduled across the region at various GHIAA congregations in the next three months to help GHIAA identify the next major social issue it will work on. These cross-congregational (2 or 3 congregations co-hosting and each one) meetings are open to anyone interested in participating, regardless of congregation or even membership in any house of worship. We welcome friends, neighbors, our Community Meal guests — everyone!
The purpose of these meetings are to:
1. Identify the struggles people are facing, the forces people are contending with, the wrongs that need to be righted, with a focus on local and regional problems where GHIAA’s influence can have an impact.
2. Build and deepen relationships
3. Identify new leaders who have passion, energy, and skill for this work
Guests will be invited to share a 3-5 minute story that fits this description:
Share a story about a struggle you or someone you love is facing.
What are the forces that you are contending with that are keeping you from the life you desire?
What is a wrong you have experienced that needs to be righted?
As you know, this house meeting campaign is a little different from previous ones in that our house meetings are being co-hosted by teams of congregations and held on-site at various GHIAA institutions. You are encouraged to register via our online form for any date. Whichever house meeting(s) you attend will be an opportunity to connect with leaders from across our network.
At each meeting, participants will divide into small groups to share stories of the struggles you are facing, the forces your loved ones are contending with, the wrongs in your community that need to be made right. This is a critically important step in our organizing process, as the stories shared in these house meetings will shape GHIAA’s next slate of issues for action. We need to hear from you.
