Environmental Justice Virtual Event

Join the Climate Change Team of AHCC’s Justice in Action Group and the Interreligious Eco-Justice Network for two important webinars that will show how to reduce our community’s energy usage, air pollution, and carbon footprint, while advancing environmental justice.

Monday, April 18 – How to Bring Electric Buses to Your Community
Asthma is the leading medical reason for school absence; averaging 60 days of missed school per year for children with asthma. That is one third of the school year! Our kids deserve better air, so that they can grow and thrive. Led by Daphne Dixon from LiveGreenCT, this webinar will explore the program that is helping communities switch diesel school buses out for electric school buses.

Monday, April 25 – Energy Efficiency as Eco-Justice: Save Energy, Save the Planet
Utility costs are one of the leading causes of homelessness and Dr. Katherine Hayhoe has stated that 60% of our carbon emissions could be cut through energy efficiency alone. Despite that, only 10 – 20% of the homes in Connecticut have been weatherized!
In this webinar, you will learn about the weatherization process, incentives and rebates for the standard program and the income eligible program, as well as receive tips on how to be a champion for energy efficiency in your community.
