Tory Chavey currently serves as AHCC’s Moderator, after serving on the Administration and Finance Committee for many years and as Assistant Treasurer. She also has served as a Sunday school teacher and in various behind-the-scenes roles for the Boar’s Head Festival.
Tory lives in West Hartford with her husband, Mark, and they have two adult children. She grew up in the Congregational Church, and she and Mark joined AHCC after they moved to West Hartford when their children were very young. Later, her parents, Joanna and Tony Woodin, joined AHCC as well. The inspiring and challenging sermons, the gorgeous music, and the church’s real commitment to being a community partner were just some of the reasons why Tory chose AHCC. Now, many years later, she especially loves the way AHCC brings together people of diverse backgrounds and viewpoints to navigate their personal faith journeys.
Tory is a mediator and arbitrator in the Hartford area and was previously a partner in two large law firms. Tory is involved in numerous community organizations, serving as a volunteer with Foodshare and as a board member of the Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence and the Connecticut Bar Foundation. In her spare time, Tory enjoys running and walking, baking, and going out to local spots for an early morning breakfast.
