AHCC is hosting the second annual Hartford Youth Essay Writing Contest. The contest, begun in 2015 by AHCC member Tiana Hercules, is open to Hartford resident students in grades 4-12, regardless of the school they are attending. Co-sponsors of the essay writing contest are Mothers United Against Violence, Project Longevity, Police Athletic League and Step Up Step Out. The theme of the contest is: “How I Can Eliminate Violence in My Community.”
We received over 40 essay entries! Now, under the leadership of Judy Carrithers and a group of judges, we begin the process of reading and assessing the essays. The entries are divided into three age groups: grades 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12; each category has a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
