Membership

Sunday Service

Does membership matter?

At Asylum Hill Congregational Church we believe that membership is grounded in an individual’s or family’s sense of call and belonging to a church community. It is not specifically an act of the church, rather, it is an act of choosing to formalize your sense of connection to our family of faith.

At AHCC, membership can happen at any time by having a conversation with a pastor who will work with you to complete a member interest form so that we may know you better. You do not need to live in or near Hartford to join AHCC, as we welcome members who participate in the life of our community virtually as well as in person. We celebrate and welcome new members during designated worship services held throughout the year. To learn more about membership, please contact one of the pastors using an email link below.

As a member, individuals are eligible to vote at congregational meetings and serve in leadership roles at the church. We welcome you to journey through life with this church community!

What does it mean to be a member of Asylum Hill Congregational Church?

We recognize that members are at different points on their faith journeys – some are just packing their bags, while others are ready to go on the road and preach! We like to say that, “No matter where you are on your faith journey, you are welcome here,” but what does that really mean? At AHCC, it means that we understand that an individual’s faith journey is a very personal one. To some, it means making a formal declaration of church membership, while to others it is a level of engagement and feeling of connectedness to a church community, its people, and its core values. And truly, no matter where you are on your faith journey, we’d like to walk with you, side by side, learning and growing together.
