Participants were given the opportunity to work with well-known local artists, dancers, writers and actors who led instruction in their crafts. There were also live performances from Spectrum In Motion and the Dan Campolieta Trio as well as time to enjoy good food - all while building a spiritual community. The retreat ended with a service of worship and celebration incorporating the experiences of the weekend. Said one participant, “Everything was truly wonderful. The flow, continuity, and unity of each offering was terrific. The community building was so important and came off beautifully.”
Dan Hansen, former chair of the Board of Worship and Fine Arts, was instrumental in the planning and execution of the weekend’s events. “It was so exhilerating to watch the reality of the board’s vision unfold before our eyes. I believe there is great promise for more arts & spirituality retreats in the future!” Indeed, still enthused by the the energy of a successful weekend, board members are already musing over plans for more offerings for the next retreat and hope to make this an annual event. Church member Tom Cooke summed up the feelings of many participants when he said, “The weekend completely exceeded my expectations. The opportunity to explore all artistic media has been an amazing and liberating experience.”
