The Woodard House on Huntington Street
Funded and Constructed with Help from
AHCC Donors and Volunteers

Habitat for Humanity is an international, nonprofit, ecumenical, Christian housing ministry committed to the development and uplifting of families and communities as well as the provision of simple, decent, affordable housing for low-income families in need. Habitat seeks to demonstrate the love and teachings of Jesus Christ through action. While Habitat is a Christian organization, we invite and welcome the contributions of time and talent of people of all faiths who believe that simple, decent housing is a matter of conscience.

Members and friends of Asylum Hill Congregational Church have contributed numerous hours in the construction of two houses on Huntington Street in Hartford.  By working in partnership with God and people from all walks of life, Habitat challenges people of compassion to make decent housing a matter of conscience. It also challenges people to provide the initial capital---through gifts and no-interest loans---with which we build or renovate asimple, decent homes for those who are inadequately sheltered and who are unable to obtain adequate housing by conventional means.  The work is a cooperative effort between volunteers and partner families who contribute labor ("sweat equity") to build their home and other Habitat homes.
