Volunteers from Asylum Hill Congregational  Church and our Crisis Food Support Program meet the Foodshare mobile pantry in New Britain to distribute food. Members and friends commit their hearts and hands to this activity for an hour every other Tuesday.  Foodshare is Hartford's regional food bank and distributes 13 tons of food per day to nearly 350 local programs that feed hungry people in Hartford and Tolland Counties. Foodshare provides food to food pantries, community kitchens, shelters, and other social service organizations in every town in greater Hartford. These programs serve children, families, and seniors and provide over a quarter of a million meals each month!

In the state with highest per capita income, 100,000 people still go to these private emergency food programs in greater Hartford each year. Most people in need are families, shown by the fact that 40,000 of our hungry neighbors are children.
