For Christians, of course, Valentine’s Day is every day. Our faith, from the very beginning, proclaimed that “God is love,” and that “God so loved the world …” that the greatest of all the commandments is “to love God and to love one another.” In a world where there is much hostility, these are comforting and challenging words of our faith.
To be Christian do you need to believe in the Bible as the inerrant Word of God? Do you have to believe that Christianity is the only way to salvation? Do you have to believe as historical fact all that you read in the Bible and the early creeds? Can you seriously hold to the Christian tradition in the light of modern science, historical scholarship, and religious pluralism? Is there a clear “Christian Way” to guide us through life?
